Campus Gleanings October 9, 2009
Dear Friends,
Happy fall, everyone! I hope you have some time to relax and enjoy the beauty of the autumn colours. And to all Canadians- have a blessed Thanksgiving weekend!
A few gleanings for your reading, listening and conference- going pleasure:
1. Home Missions has created a special series of short devotions for October 19-25 entitled "Being Transformed". One of the devotionals during the week has been written by our own Shiao Chong, campus minister at York University. The devotions have a prayer and a discussion topic. They are designed for all ages and audiences. Devotions will be sent out via email. Please go to www.crhm.org/transformation to sign up to receive this collection of inspiring meditations.
2. And while you are thinking about inspiring meditations, don't forget to check out our own devotional series Learning for Life: Cultivating a Student Spirituality. A new 7 day devotional is posted every Monday.
3. From Paul Verhoef, campus chaplain at University of Calgary:
Good stuff to chew on.
Here’s Stackhouse’s short and recent comments:

And here’s a longer statement of what he thinks needs to be done:

4. From Peter Schuurman:
This is something you’ll want to listen to. From Calvin College. For context, read the Chimes over the last month.
The text and audio from the Academic Freedom Panel on September 23, 2009, with Anthony Diekema, George Marsden, Nicholas Wolterstorff, can now be found on the Dean for Research and Scholarship's Academic Freedom page: http://www.calvin.edu/admin/provost/scholars/AcademicFreedom/ under the box at the right, "Events on campus pertaining to the issue of Academic Freedom."
Take a look at the
list of workshops that will be at this years congress. Campus Ministry people are welcome to attend.
Blessings,
Angela
